ومن الحوادث في هذه السنة فتح جرجان [٥] وقد قيل: إنما سميت جرجان لأنه بناها جرجان بن لاوذ بن سام بن نوح. ولما قتل النعمان بن مقرن، ولى أخاه سويد بن مقرن، وكاتب ملك جرجان، ثمسار إليها ففتحها وصالحوه على أخذ الجزية منهم. ومن الناس من يقول: كان فتحها في سنة اثنتين وعشرين. وقال المدائني: إنما فتحت في زمان عثمان سنة ثلاثين .
