ذكر أسماء قضاته وعماله على الصدقات لما ولي قال له عمر: أنا أكفيك القضاء، فجعله قاضيا فمكث سنة لا يخاصم إليه أحد، وكان يكتب له زيد بن ثابت، وفي بعض الأوقات عثمان بن عفان ﵁ ومن حضر. وكان عامله على مكة عتاب بن أسيد، وعلى الطائف عثمان بن أبي العاص،وعلى صنعاء المهاجر بن أبي أمية، وعلى حضرموت زياد بن لبيد، وعلى خولان يعلى بن أمية، وعلى الجند معاذ بن جبل، وعلى البحرين العلاء بن الحضرمي، وبعث جماعة من الصحابة في أعمال، وأمر أبا عبيدة، وعمرو بن العاص وخالد بن الوليد، وشرحبيل بن حسنة .
