(٢٨٥٢) أبو أمامة بن سهل بن حنيف بن وهب الأنصاري من بني عمرو بن عوف ابن مالك بن الأوس، اسمه أسعد، سماه رسول الله ﷺ باسم جده أبى أمامه أسعد بن زرارة أبى أمه، وكناه بكنيته، ودعا له وبرك عليه. توفى أبو أمامة بن سهل بن حنيف سنة مائة، وهو ابن نيف وتسعين سنة. روى الليث بن سعد، عن يونس، عن ابن شهاب، قال: أخبرنى أبو أمامة بن سهل ابن حنيف، وكان ممن أدرك النبي ﷺ. قال أبو عمر: يعد في كبار التابعين (¬٢).
