مِيثَم التَّمَّار (٠٠٠ - ٦٠ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٦٨٠ م) ميثم بن يحيى الأسدي بالولاء: أول من ألجم في الإسلام!. كان عبدا لامرأة من بني أسد، واشتراه علي بن أبي طالب منها، وأعتقه. ثم كان أثيرا عنده. وسكن بعده الكوفة. وحبسه أميرها عبيد الله بن زياد لصلته بعلي، ثم أمر به فصلب على خشبة، فجعل يحدث بفضائل بني هاشم، فقيل لابن زياد: قد فضحكم هذا العبد، فقال: ألجموه! فكان أول من ألجم في الإسلام. ثم طعن بحربة. وكان ذلك قبل مقدم الحسين إلى العراق بعشرة أيام. ولمحمد حسين المظفري، المعاصر، كتاب (ميثم التمار - ط) (١) .
