    ابن البُصَيْص (٦٥١ - ٧١٦ هـ = ١٢٥٣ - ١٣١٧ م) موسى بن علي بن محمد الحَلَبي أصلا، الحموي مولدا، ثم الدمشقيّ، نجم الدين المعروف بابن البصيص: شيخ الخطاطين في زمانه بدمشق. ووفاته فيها. له شعر على طريقة الصوفية. أقام يعلم الناس (الكتابة) خمسين سنة. وممن كتب عليه ابن كثير (صاحب البداية والنهاية) قال ابن تغري بردي: ابتدع صنائع بديعة (في الكتابة) وكتب في آخر عمره (ختمة) بالذهب عوضا عن الحبر. وقال ابن حجر: تعانى (المنسوب) فأتقنه وكتب الأقلام كلها، ثم اخترع قلما سماه (المعجز) وكتب بخطه كثيرا ورزق الحظوة وكان مع ذلك يعمل بالفأس في بستانه ويضرب اللبن ويبني بيده (٣)
