المُهَيْر بن سُلمى (٠٠٠ - ١٢٦ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٧٤٤ م) المهير بن سلمي بن هلال الدؤلي، من بني حنيفة: زعيم أهل اليمامة في أواخر العصر المرواني. كان شجاعا حازما. ولما بلغه مقتل الوليد بن يزيد في الشام دخل على والي اليمامة عليّ بن المهاجر الكلابي، فقال له: اترك لنا بلادنا. فأبى ابن المهاجر، فجمع المهير جمعا فقاتله، وانهزم ابن المهاجر، فتأمر المهيرعلى اليمامة، ولم يعش بعد ذلك غير قليل. ومات فيها (١) .
