مَعْبَد المُغَنِّي (٠٠٠ - ١٢٦ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٧٤٣ م) معبد بن وهب، أبو عباد المدني: نابغة الغناء العربيّ في العصر الأموي. كان مولى لبني مخزوم (أو لابن قطن، مولى معاوية) ونشأ في المدينة يرعى الغنم لمواليه، وربما اشتغل في التجارة. ولما ظهر نبوغه في الغناء أقبل عليه كبراء المدينة. ثم رحل إلى الشام فاتصل بأمرائها وارتفع شأنه. وكان أديبا فصيحا. وعاش طويلا إلى أن انقطع صوته. ومات في عسكر الوليد ابن يزيد. أصواته وأخباره كثيرة (٢) . مُعَتِّب (٣) الرومي = مغيث الرّومي
