    الصَّفيّ الأُرْمَوي (٦٤٧ - ٧٢٣ هـ = ١٢٤٩ - ١٣٢٣ م) محمود بن محمد (أبي بكر) بن حامد، أبو الثناء، صفي الدين الأرموي القرافي: عالم باللغة والحديث. مصري. ولد بقرافة القاهرة، وتعلم بالقاهرة وبالإسكندرية والشام. له كتب، منها(ذيل النهاية) لابن الأثير، في غريب الحديث، و (تهذيب المحكم) لابن سيده، في اللغة، جمع بينه وبين صحاح الجوهري وتهذيب الأزهري. قال الذهبي: كان سريع القراءة فصيحا عذب العبارة وحصلت له سوداء فلازم الوحدة، يحدّث نفسه ويجمع مع ذلك وينسخ. وكانت إقامته في السميساطية بدمشق، ومات بها في المرستان النوري (١) .
