    المُتَوَكِّل الثالث (٨٧٠ - ٩٥٠ هـ = ١٤٦٦ - ١٥٤٣ م) محمد (المتوكل على الله) ابن يعقوب (المستمسك باللَّه) ابن عبد العزيز (المتوكل الثاني) ابن يعقوب العباسي: آخر خلفاء الدولة العباسية الثانية بمصر. نزل له أبوه عن أعمال الخلافة سنة ٩١٤ هـ قبل دخول السلطان سليم مصر، فلما دخلها سليم(سنة ٩٢٢ هـ - ١٥١٧ م) قبض عليه وأخذه معه إلى الآستانة، ولم يقبض على أبيه لكبر سنه، فمكث مدة في بلاد الترك، ثم أطلقه السلطان سليم قبيل وفاته، فعاد إلى مصر. وأجرى له كل يوم ٦٠ درهما فأقام إلى أن توفي فيها. وبوفاته انقرضت الخلافة العباسية بمصر وغيرها. وكان أديبا فاضلا، له شعر (١) .
