    ابن المَوْلى (٠٠٠ - نحو ١٧٠ هـ = ٠٠٠ - نحو ٧٨٦ م) محمد بن عبد الله بن مسلم مولى بني عمرو بن عوف من الأنصار: شاعر متقدم مجيد، من مخضرمي الدولتين الأموية والعباسية. كان ظريفا عفيفا، حسن الهيئة. وهو القائل: (وبالناس عاش الناس، قدما، ولم يزل من الناس مرغوب إليه وراغب) ولد ونشأ في المدينة، ومدح بها عبد الملك بن مروان. وأسنّ، حتى لحق الدولة العباسية فمدح قثم بن العباس (أمير اليمامة) وآخرين، ورحل إلى العراق فاتصل بالمهديّ العباسي ومدحه. وسافر الى مصر، فأكثر من مدح يزيد بن حاتم المهلبي (١) .
