الشيخ محمَّد العَطَّار (١١٧٧ - ١٢٤٣ هـ = ١٧٦٤ - ١٨٢٨ م) محمد بن حسين العطار، الحلبي الأصل، الدمشقيّ المولد والوفاة: باحث، رياضي، يقال له (المدرّس) . رحل إلى الأزهر، وأخذ عن علماء مصر، وتوفي بالطاعون في دمشق. كان مضطلعا في فنون الفلك والحساب والرياضيات، وفي مكتبة آل الشطي (بدمشق) أوراق من آثاره، ورسائل، منها رسالة في (حساب المياه - خ) ورسالة في (الرمي بالقنبرة والطوب - ط) نشرت في مجلة المشرق، ورسالة في (فن القبان - خ) . وله شرح على منظومةمعاصره الشيخ حسن العطار المصري في (التشريح - خ) و (رسالة المزولة - خ) (١) .
