ابن كُمَيْل (٧٧٥ - ٨٤٨ هـ = ١٣٧٣ - ١٤٤٤ م) محمد بن أحمد بن عمر بن كميل، شمس الدين: قاض، فاضل، لم نظم. من أهل المنصورة (بمصر) ولد بها، وولي قضاءها، وأضيف إليه قضاء " سلمون " و " منية ابن سليل " وحمدت سيرته. من نظمه وقد حجر (سنة ٨٢٤) ومر بمنزلة " الوجه " فلم يكن بها ماء: أتيت إلى " الوجه " المرجى نواله ... فشح وماسح الحيا بنداه وأسفر عن وجه وما فيه من " حيا " ... فقلت: دعوه ما أقل حياة! وكان في جامع سلمون، فسقطت عليه منازته، من ريح عاصف، فمات تحت الردم (٢) .
