    المثنى بن عِمْران (٠٠٠ - نحو ١٢٩ هـ = ٠٠٠ - نحو ٧٤٧ م) المثنى بن عمران العائذي، من عائذة قريش: شجاع ثائر. من الحرورية.كان مع الضحاك بن قيس لما خرج في العراق. وولاه الضحاك على الكوفة، فقصده يزيد بن عمر بن هبيرة، فاقتتلا أياما، بعين التمر، ثم بالنخيلة فالبصرة، قال ابن الأثير: " كان المثنى على الكوفة وهو خليفة للخوارج بالعراق " (١) .
