قَتَادَة بن إِدريس (٥٢٧ - ٦١٧ هـ = ١١٣٣ - ١٢٢٠ م) قتادة بن إدريس بن مطاعن بن عبد الكريم بن عيسى، أبو عزيز، الحسني العلويّ: جد الأشراف " بني قتادة " بمكة. ولد في ينبع. ونشأ شجاعا عاقلا، ترأس عشيرته واستولى على ينبع والصفراء. وكثرت الفتن بمكة بين المتنازعين على إمارتها، فقصدها بجمع قويّ فملكها (سنة ٥٩٨ هـ واتسع ملكه إلى المدينة واليمن. وكان فاضلا، محسنا في بدء أمره، ثم جد المظالم والمكوس. وكان يقول: أنا أحق بالخلافة. له شعر جيد وأخباره كثيرة. خنقه ابنه الحسن بمكة، وهو مريض (٣) .
