    غسان بن عباد (٠٠٠ - بعد ٢١٦ هـ = ٠٠٠ - بعد ٨٣١ م) غسان بن عباد بن أبي الفرج: وال. من رجال المأمون العباسي. وهو ابن عم الفضل بن سهل. ولي " خراسان " من قبل الحسن بن سهل. ثم ولاه المأمون " السند " سنة ٢١٣ هـ وكان العامل عليها بشر بن داود المهلبي، قد عصى المأمون ولم يحمل إليه خراجها، فلما دخلها غسان استأمن إليه بشر. وأقام نحو ثلاث سنوات أصلح فيها شؤون الإمارة. ثم استعمل عليها عمران بن موسى البرمكي، وعاد إلى بغداد سنة ٢١٦ هـ فقال فيه أحد الشعراء، من أبيات: " سيف غسّان رونق الحرب فيه ... وسمام الحتوف في ظبتيه " (٢) .
