غالِب الكَثِيري (١٢٢٤ - ١٢٨٧ هـ = ١٨٠٩ - ١٨٧٠ م) غالب بن محسن بن أحمد الكثيري: من سلاطين حضرموت. وليها بعد طرد اليافعيين من تريم وسيوون وتريس وتوابعها سنة ١٢٦٥ هـ واستولى على الشحر سنة ١٢٨٣ هـ وطمع بالمكلاَّ فهاجمها فصدّه عنها عمال القعيطين وأغاروا على الشحر فانتزعوها منه في آخر السنة نفسها (١٢٨٣ هـ وأعاد الكرّة على الشحر سنة ١٢٨٤ هـ فعجز. وتوفي بسيوون. قال البكري: كان قائدا مقداما وحاكما حازما، أحيي ملك آبائه بعد اندثاره، ويعتبر المؤسس الأول للدولة الكثيرية في عهدها الأخير (٣) .
