الشَّرِيف عُمَر (٤٤٢ - ٥٣٩ هـ = ١٠٥٠ - ١١٤٥ م) عمر بن إبراهيم بن محمد الحسيني العلويّ، أبو البركات: من رجالالحديث واللغة. كان زيديا معتزليا، من أهل الكوفة، مولدا ووفاة. سكن الشام في شبيبته مدة. وبرع في العربية، وشارك في كثير من العلوم، وتفقه، وولي الإفتاء بالكوفة. وكان يقول: أنا زيدي المذهب ولكن أفتي على مذهب السلطان. وقيل: صرح بالقول بخلق القرآن وبالقدر. له تصانيف حسنة في النحو وغيره، منها " شرح اللمع لابن جني - خ " مخروم الأول، في الظاهرية (الرقم العام ٧٥٥٢) (١) .
