    الشَّريف عَبْد المُحْسِن (٠٠٠ - ١١٣١ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ١٧٠١ م) عبد المحسن بن أحمد بن زيد الحسني: من أشراف مكة. وليها بعد عزل الشريف سعيد بن سعد (سنة ١١١٣ هـ في فتنة ليس هنا مجال شرحها. وكان في جدة، فدخل مكة في مهرجان. وأقام تسعة أيام، ونزل عن الشرافة - باختياره - للشريف عبد الكريم بن محمد بن يعلى. ووافق على ذلك الوالي التركي (سليمان باشا) وتتابعت الفتن بين زعماء الأشراف، فاحتفظ عبد المحسن بمكانته حتى كان مرجعا لهم جميعا " لا يتولى شريف منهم ولا يعزل إلا برأيه، ولا يستمر إلا إذا كان تحت أمره ونهيه " كما يقول ابن زيني دحلان. وظل على ذلك إلى أن توفي مكة (٢) .
