    ابن صَفوان الأَكبر (٠٠٠ - ٧٣ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٦٩٢ م) عبد الله بن صفوان بن أمية بن خلف الجمحيّ: رئيس مكة وابن رئيسها. شجاع، من أصحاب عبد الله بن الزبير، حارب معه الحجاج بن يوسف. ولد في حياة النبي ﷺ. وقتل بمكة يوم مقتل ابن الزبير، فبعث الحجاج برأسه إلى عبد الملك بن مروان. وعرّفه ابن حزم بعبد الله الأكبر، تمييزا له عن الآتية ترجمته (٣) .
