عامر بن عَلي (٩٦٥ - ١٠٠٨ هـ = ١٥٥٨ - ١٦٠٠ م) عامر بن علي بن محمد الحسني الزيدي: أمير يماني، من الفضلاء الشجعان. سكن شبام (باليمن) فتفقه وتأدب، وثار مع ابن أخيه (القاسم بن محمد) فقاتل الترك، واشتهرت وقائعه معهم بكوكبان وغيرها، إلى أن أسر، فأمر الكتخدا (الكيخيا) سنان أن يطاف به في كوكبان وشبام. وسلخ جلده وهو صابر لا يئن ولا يشكو، وملئ جلده تبنا وأرسل على جمل إلى صنعاء حيث طيف به. ودفن جسده في حمومة ثم نقل إلى خمر (٢) .
