عامِر بن ضُبَارَة (٠٠٠ - ١٣١ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٧٤٩ م) عامر بن ضبارة الغطفانيّ ثم المري، أبو الهيذام: قائد، من الفرسان الشجعان. من أهل حوران بالشام. كان مع ابن هبيرة في العراق. انتدبه مروان بن محمد لقتال شيبان الخارجي، وجهز معه سبعة آلاف. فزحف بهم، فانهزم منه شيبان، بعد وقائع. ثم سار عامر لقتال عبد الله بن معاوية الطالبي، الخارج بإصطخر، فتوفق، فوجهه ابن هبيرة بخمسين ألفا لقتال قحطبة بن شبيب. فنزل بأصبهان،فقاتله قحطبة بعشرين ألفا، فتقهقر جيش عامر، وثبت في عدد قليل حتى قتل (١) .
