رِفَاعة البَجَلي (٠٠٠ - ٦٦ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٦٨٥ م) رفاعة بن شداد البجلي: قارئ، منالشجعان المقدمين، من أهل الكوفة. كان من شيعة علي. ولما قتل الحسين وخرج المختار يطالب بدمه انحاز إليه رفاعة، ثم ظهر له أن المختار يبطن غير ما يظهر، فاعتزله. ولما نشبت الحرب بين أهل الكوفة والمختار كان رفاعة في صفوف مقاتليه وأبلى بلاء عجيباً إلى أن صاح أحد الكوفيين: يا لثارات عثمان، فغضب رفاعة وقال: لا أقاتل مع قوم يبغون دم عثمان. وعاد عنهم، فقاتل مع المختار حتى قتل (١) .
