داوُد المُهَلَّبي (٠٠٠ - ٢٠٥ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٨٢٠ م) داود بن يزيد بن حاتم المهلبي الطائي (٢) ، من أبناء المهلب بن أبي صفرة: أمير، من الشجعان العقلاء. كان مع أبيه بإفريقية. واستخلفه أبوه عليها، فتولاها بعد وفاته (سنة ١٧٠ هـ فأحسن تدبيرها. وبقي في إمارتها إلى أن استعمل الرشيد عليها عمه روح ابن حاتم سنة ١٧٢ هـ وولي داود إمرة مصر في أواخر ١٧٣ فقدمها في أوائل ١٧٤ وكان أمرها مضطربا، فهدأت في أيامه، واستمر سنة ونصف شهر، وعزل سنة ١٧٥ ثم ولاه الرشيد السند (سنة ١٨٤ هـ فاتسقت له أمروها وتوفي فيها (٣) .
