أَبُو سُليمان الطَّائِي (٠٠٠ - ١٦٥ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٧٨١ م) داود بن نصير الطائي، أبو سليمان: من أئمة المتصوفين. كان في أيام المهدي العباسي. أصله من خراسان، ومولده بالكوفة. رحل إلى بغداد، فأخذ عن أبي حنيفة وغيره، وعاد الى الكوفة، فاعتزل الناس، ولزم العبادة إلى أن مات فيها. قال أحد معاصريه: لو كان داود في الأمم الماضية لقص الله تعالى شيئا من خبره. وله أخبار مع أمراء عصره وعلمائه (٢) .
