داوُد الأَدْلَم (٠٠٠ - نحو ١٣٢ هـ = ٠٠٠ - نحو ٧٥٠ م) داود بن سلم، المعروف بالأدلم، مولى تيم بن مرة: شاعر حجازيّ مجيد، رقيق الشعر، من أهل المدينة. أدرك آخر أيام بني أمية وأول أمر بني هاشم. وعرف بالأدلم لسواده وطوله، ويقال (الآدم) و (الأرمك) و (الأسود) وكان قبيح الوجه، يتخايل في مشيته، وضربه أمير المدينة (سعد بن إبراهيم) أربعين سوطا من أجل مشيه. ويقال: كان أبوه نبطيا، وانتسب إلى ولاء أمه (٣) .
