    حُمُود شَرَف الدِّين (٠٠٠ - ١٣٣٨ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ١٩١٩ م) حمود بن محمد بن يحيى، من آل الإمام شرف الدين: قاض، عارف بالأدب، طموح إلى الإمارة، من زيدية اليمن. نشأ في كوكبان، وخرج على أميرها أحمد بن محمد. وهو خاله، فتجاذبا ثوب الإمارة. وفشل حمود، فرحل إلى صنعاء في طلب العلم، ثم عاد إلى كوكبان وقد احتلها الأتراك، فولوه التدريس والقضاء والأوقاف في بعض الجهات إلى أن قام الإمام يحيىحميد الدين بمصاولة الأتراك، فلبى حمود دعوته واشترك معه في قتالهم (سنة ١٣٢٣ هـ فولاه القضاء ببلاد (الطويلة) فاستمر الى أن توفي بها. له كتاب في (النحو) شرح به كافية ابن الحاجب (١) .
