ابن أسْباط الغَرْبي (٠٠٠ - ٩٢٦ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ١٥٢٠ م) حمزة بن أحمد بن عمر بن صالح، ابن أسباط الغَرْبي: مؤرخ، نسبته إلى مقاطعة (الغرب) بقرب بيروت. ولد يتيما وتبناه الأمير عبد الله التنوخي، فنشأ بارعا بالكتابة، وصنف كتابا في (التاريخ) رتبه على السنين، منه الجزء الثاني - مخطوط - يبتدئ بحوادث سنة ٥٢٦هـ وينتهي بسنة ٩٢٢ هـ وهو آخر الكتاب. وقد ورد أكثره في تاريخ الأمير حيدر الشه أبي (ص ٥٦٤ - ٦٠٥) وجلّ ما فيه عن صالح بن يحيى صاحب (تاريخ بيروت) (٢) .
