المَهْدي العِيَاني (٣٨٤ - ٤٠٤ هـ = ٩٩٤ - ١٠١٣ م) الحسين بن القاسم بن علي العياني، المَهْدي لِدِين الله: من أئمة الزيدية باليمن. قام بالإمامة بعد أبيه. وكانت إقامته بصنعاء. وقاتله بعض معارضيه، فقتل في البوْن (شمالي صنعاء) وكان فصيحا مناظرا، له كتب منها (التحدي للعلماء والجهال) و (تفسير غريب القرآن - خ) و (كتاب الأسرار) و (الصفات) وغير ذلك (٢) .
