ابن جَوْهَر (٠٠٠ - ٤٠١ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ١٠١٠ م) الحسين بن جوهر: قائد القواد. كان في أيام الحاكم بأمر الله الفاطمي، بمصر. ولاه قيادة القواد وردَّ إليه تدبير المملكة سنة ٣٩٠ هـ قأقام نحو ثلاث سنوات. ورأى من حال الحاكم ما أخافه، فهرب هو وولده وصهره (زوج أخته) القاضي عبد العزيز بن نعمان. فأرسل إليهم الحاكم من أعادتهم، وطيَّب قلوبهم وآنسهم مدة، ثم حضروا للخدمة في قصره - بالقاهرة - فأمر بالقبض على حسين وعبد العزيز وقتلهما، وجئ برأسيهما. والحسين هذا هو ابن القائد جوهر باني مدينة القاهرة (٢) .
