    الحَسَن المُثَنَّى (٠٠٠ - نحو ٩٠ هـ = ٠٠٠ - نحو ٧٠٨ م) الحسن بن الحسن بن علي بن أبي طالب، أبو محمد، الهاشمي: كبير الطالبيين في عهده. كان وصيّ أبيه ووليّ صدقة جده. إقامته ووفاته في المدينة. وكان عبد الملك بن مروان يهابه. واتهم بمكاتبة أهل العراق وأنهم يمنُّونه بالخلافة، فبلغ ذلك الوليد بن عبد الملك، فأمر عامله بالمدينة بجلده، فلم يجلده العامل،وكتب للوليد يبرئه. وقيل للحسن: ألم يقل رسول الله: (من كنت مولاه فعليّ مولاه) فقال: بلى، ولكن والله لم يَعْنِ رسول الله بذلك الإمارة والسلطان ولو أراد ذلك لأفصح لهم به (١) . الحسن بن الحسن (ابن الهيثم) = محمَّد بن الحسن نحو ٤٣٠ (٢) .
