    جُورْج أَبْيَض (١٢٩٧ - ١٣٧٨ هـ = ١٨٨٠ - ١٩٥٩ م) جورج بن الياس أبيض: من كبار (الممثلين) المسرحيين. ولد وتعلم ببيروت وسافر الى مصر وظهرت موهبته في التمثيل فأرسله الخديوي عباس حلمي فيبعثة إلى فرنسا (١٩٠٤ - ١٩١٠) وعاد فألف فرقة تمثيلية ودرّس الفن ومادة الإلقاء في بعض المعاهد. وقام برحلات إلى البلاد العربية مع فرقته. واعتنق الإسلام (يونيو ١٩٥٣) مع زوجته دولت أبيض وابنته. وتوفي بالقاهرة. صنفت ابنته (سعاد) كتابا سمته (عميد المسرح جورج أبيض - ط) أرخت فيه للنهضة المسرحية في المئة سنة الأخيرة (١) .
