    ثَوْب بن مَعْن (٠٠٠ - ٠٠٠ = ٠٠٠ - ٠٠٠) ثوب بن معن بن عتود بن عنين بن سلامان بن ثعل بن عمرو بن الغوث بن طيِّئ:من قدماء الجاهليين: تقدم ذكره في خلال بعض التراجم (في الأعلام) وتكرر اسمه في جمهرة الأنساب بلفظ (بوث) تحريفا. واختلفوا في ضبط (ثوب) فضبطه ابن ماكولا مرة بفتح فسكون، وأخرى بضم ففتح. وضبطه الذهبي (في المشتبه) بضم ففتح (كزفر، وعمر) وحققه ابن ناصر الدين في (الإعلام بما وقع في مشتبه الذهبي من الأوهام) فأورد الروايتين ثم قال: (وهو بفتح اوله وسكون الواو. كذلك ذكره ابن الكلبي في الجمهرة، وغيره) (١) .
