    إِسماعيل العَظْم (٠٠٠ - ١١٤٤ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ١٧٣١ م) إسماعيل (باشا) بن إبراهيم العَظْم: أول من دخل الشام من هذه الأسرة. أصله من قونية. انتقل أبوه إلى بغداد، وجاء هو إلى دمشق فسكنها إلى أن توفي فيها. وأعقب ثلاثة أولاد: سعد الدينباشا، وأسعد باشا (ومن نسلهما آل العظم في دمشق وحماة) وإبراهيم باشا (وسلالته في معرة النعمان) (١) .
