    مختار غازي (١٢٥٣؟ - ١٣٣٧ هـ = ١٨٣٧ - ١٩١٩ م) أحمد مختار (باشا) الغازي: رياضي تركي، من كبار القادة العثمانيين تعلم باستنبول وتنقل في أعمال بالحجاز واليمن وكريد وألبانيا ومصر (مندوبا ساميا) وعاد إلى بلاده من أعضاء مجلس الأعيان (١٩٠٨) وصدرا أعظم (١٩١٣) وتوفي بالأستانة. لقب بالغازي لحسن بلائه في الحرب التركية الروسية. وكان يجيد العربية إلا أنه صنف كتبه بالتركية وترجم شفيق يكن بعضها إلى العربية، وفي مقدمتها (رياض المختار ومرآة الميقات والادوار - ط) وإصلاح التقويم - ط) و (التقويم المالي - ط) (٣) .
