    ابن المِنْقَار (٠٠٠ - ١٠٣٢ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ١٦٢٣ م) (أحمد بن محمد، ابن المنقار: من شعراء المجانين. علت له شهرة. أصله من حلب، ومولده ووفاته بدمشق. صنف رسالة في مباحث (الاستعارة وتحقيق الحقيقة والمجاز) قبل أن يبلغ العشرين من عمره، ورحل إلى الآستانة فاختلط بظرفائها واستعمل المكيفات، فأصيب بعقله، فحمل إلى دمشق مطوقا بالحديد، فأقام على حاله نحو ثلاثين سنة. وزاره البوريني (المؤرخ الأديب) فلما رآه ابن المنقار عرفه، وكان مقيدا بسلسلة، فأنشد: (إذا رأيت عارضا مسلسلا في وجنة كجنّة يا عاذلي) (فاعلم يقينا أننا من أمة تقاد للجنة بالسلاسل!)
