    ابن أَبي عُذَيْبَة (٨١٩ - ٨٥٦ هـ = ١٤١٦ - ١٤٥٢ م) أحمد بن محمد بن عمر، شهاب الدين: فاضل ممن عني بالتأريخ. عاب عليه السخاوي أنه كان يذكر مساوئ الناس.مولده ووفاته في القدس. ونسبته إلى زوج أمه (محمد المشهور ب أبي عذيبة) وكان قد رباه. له كتب منها تاريخ مطول سماه (تاريخ دول الأعيان شرح قصيدة نظم الجمان - خ) و (تاريخ مختصر) اطلع صاحب الأنس الجليل على معظمه، وقال: إنه مرتب على حروف المعجم، وكتاب (قصص الأنبياء - خ) في الخالدية بالقدس، رأيتها بخطه (١) .
