    ابن حَمَائل (٦٥٠ - ٧٣٧ هـ = ١٢٥٢ - ١٣٣٧ م) أحمد بن محمد بن سلمان بن حمائل الزينبي الجعفري، شهاب الدين: كاتب مترسل نديم، له شعر كله لطائف وملح، وكان إذا أنشأ أطال فكره ونتف شعره وذقنه أو وضعه في فمه وقرضه بثناياه. مولدهبمكة، وباشر الإنشاء بصفد وتنقل في البلاد فبلغ اليمن وعاد إلى الشام، وكان كلما أقام في مكان حدثت له وقائع مع نوابه وأمرائه فيخرج هاربا. وآخر ما وليه كتابة الإنشاء في دمشق، واختلَّ قبل موته بسنتين فتوفي فيها (١) .
