    ٩٦٠ - أبو نوفل بن أبى عقرب «٢» واسم أبى عقرب معاوية بن عمرو الدّيلىّ، وهو في آخر الطبقة الثالثة، أخذ عنه أبو عمرو بن العلاء. قال أبو عمرو بن العلاء: كنت آتى أبا نوفل بن أبى عقرب أنا وشعبة [١]. ابن الحجاج، وكان شعبة يسأل عن الآثار [٢]، وأسأله أنا عن النّحو والشعر، لا يعلم شعبة شيئا ممّا أسأل، ولا أعلم أنا شيئا ممّا يسأل عنه شعبة. وكان أبو نوفل فقيها نحويّا.
