    ٦٩٤ - محمد بن علىّ بن محمد أبو سهل الهروىّ النحوىّ اللّغوىّ «١» نزيل مصر؛ كان نحويّا، وله رياسة المؤذّنين بجامع عمرو بن العاص، وله خطّ صحيح يتنافس فيه أهل العلم، كتب الكثير من كتب اللّغة والنحو، وكان مفيدا، وحدّث [٢]. وكان مولده فى اليوم السابع من رمضان سنة اثنتين وسبعين وثلاثمائة، وتوفى فى الثالث عشر من المحرّم سنة ثلاث وثلاثين وأربعمائة [٣].
