    ٥٣٤ - عيينة بن عبد الرحمن أبو المنهال المهلبى النحوىّ اللغوىّ [٣] ذكره الحافظ بن البيّع النيسابورىّ فى تاريخ نيسابور فقال: «صاحب العربية وتلميذ الخليل بن أحمد، مؤدب الأمير أبى العباس عبد الله بن طاهر بن الحسين «١»، ورد معه نيسابور، وتوفى بها.روى عن داود «١» بن أبى هند، وسفيان بن عيينة، وسعيد بن أبى عروبة «٢» ويحيى بن سليم. «٣» وكان من قوله: لا تتصدر إلى فائق أو مائق»: «٤»
