٤٩٨ - على بن منصور بن عبيد الله بن علىّ الخطيبىّ أبو الحسن [١] الأصبهانىّ الأصل، البغداذىّ المولد والدار، اللغوىّ. فاضل له معرفة تامة بالأدب. قرأ على أبى الحسن على بن عبد الرحيم السّلمىّ المعروف بابن العصّار، وعلى أبى البركات عبد الرحمن بن محمد الأنبارىّ. وبرع فى ذلك حتى صار يشارإليه فى معرفة اللّغة العربيّة، ونقلها حفظا «١» وعلما، مع حفظ القرآن المجيد ومعرفة الفقه على مذهب الشافعىّ. ولد فى سنة سبع وأربعين وخمسمائة فى شوّال «٢».
