٤٩٣ - على بن محمد الهروىّ النحوىّ [١] من أهل هراة. قدم مصر واستوطنها روى عن الأزهرىّ. وهو أوّل من أدخل نسخة من كتاب الصحاح للجوهرىّ مصر- فيما قيل- ووجد فيها خللا ونقصا، فهذبه وأصلحه. وصنف كتابا كبيرا فى النحو، عدّة مجلدات، وهو موجود بمصر. وصنف كتابا فى معانى العوامل سماه الأزهية «١» رأيته بخط ولده أبى سهل، وملكته والحمد لله. وله مختصر فى النحو سماه المرشد، رأيته وملكته وعليه خطه «٢».
