    مَعْقِلُ بْنُ خُوَيْلِدٍ ذَكَرَهُ بَعْضُ الْمُتَأَخِّرِينَ، وَقَالَ: لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ، مِنْ أَهْلِ الْحِجَازِ٦٠٩٤ - أَخْبَرَنَاهُ عَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ , قَالَ: عِيسَى بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْهُذَلِيِّ، قَالَ: " كَانَ بَيْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَبَيْنَ مَعْقِلِ ⦗٢٥١٥⦘ بْنِ خُوَيْلِدٍ فِي سَلْبِ رَجُلٍ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ كَلَامٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «يَا مَعْقِلُ اجْتَنِبْ مُغَاضَبَةَ قُرَيْشٍ»
