شبيب بن يزيد بن جمرة بن عوف بن أبي حارثة المعروف بابن البرصاء المرّي: والبرصاء أمه، واسمها قرصافة بنت الحارث، وهو ابن خالة عقيل بن علّفة الآتية ترجمته في حرف العين [١] ، وهو شاعر مجيد من شعراء الدولة الأموية وكان بينه وبين ابن خالته عقيل منافرة ومهاجاة، وكان من سادات قومه وأشرافهم، وله أخبار وأشعار كثيرة ذكرها أبو الفرج في كتابه منها [٢] : وإني لسهل الوجه يعرف مجلسي ... إذا أحزن القاذورة المتعبّس يضيء سنا جودي لمن يبتغي القرى ... وقد حال دون النّار ظلماء حندس ألين لذي القربى مرارا وتلتوي ... بأعناق أعدائي حبال فتمرس - ٥٨٥-
