سعدان بن المبارك أبو عثمان الضرير النحوي الراوية، مولى عاتكة مولاة المهدي امرأة المعلى بن طريف الذي ينسب إليه نهر المعلّى ببغداد: كان من رواة العلم والأدب كوفي المذهب، روى عن أبي عبيدة معمر بن المثنى، وروى عنه محمد بن الحسن بن دينار الهاشمي. وله من المصنفات: كتاب خلق الانسان. وكتاب الوحوش. وكتاب الأرضوالمياه والبحار والجبال. وكتاب النقائض. وكتاب الأمثال. مات سنة عشرين ومائتين. - ٥٢١-
