    أحمد بن محمد المهلّبيّ، أبو العباس (٧). ذكره محمد بن إسحاق في كتاب الفهرست (٨) وقال: له كتاب شرح علل النّحو، وكتاب المختصر في النّحو، وكتاب المهلّبيّ في النّحو. أحمد بن محمد بن يزداد بن رستم، أبو جعفر النّحويّ الطّبري (٩)، سكن بغداد.وله من الكتب: كتاب غريب القرآن، وكتاب المقصور والممدود، وكتاب المذكّر والمؤنّث، وكتاب صورة الهمزة، وكتاب التصريف، وكتاب النّحو. وكان يؤدّب في دار الوزير ابن الفرات.

    أحمد بن محمد المهلبي أبو العباس : كذا ذكره محمد بن إسحاق النديم في كتابه وقال: هو مقيم بمصر ويعرف بالبرجاني [١] ، وله من الكتب كتاب شرح علل النحو. كتاب المختصر في النحو. وكان بمصر نحوي يعرف بالمهلبي اسمه علي بن أحمد وكان في هذا العصر، فإن كان هذا فقد وهم النديم في اسمه، وإلّا فهو غيره، والله أعلم. وقد كتبنا لذلك ترجمة في بابه [٢] . - ١٤٩-
