ومن بني زهير بن جذيمة: أبو الأبيض (¬١) كان فاضلا وهو القائل: ومالي مال غير درع حصينة … وأبيض من ماء الحديد صقيل ووردت على عبد الملك هدية الحجاج، فقال لأبي الأبيض: كيف ترى؟ قال: هذا حسن إن لم تكن ظلمت فيه الأرملة واليتيم، وكان الحجاج حاضرا، فقال: يا أمير المؤمنين اسقني دمه. وخرج العباس بن الوليد على الصائفة، وخرج معه أبو الأبيض، فقال أبو الأبيض: رأيت كأني أتيت بتمر وزبد فأكلته ثم دخلت الجنة فقالالعباس: نعجّل لك التمر والزبد والله لك بالجنة، فدعا بتمر وزبد فأكله، ثم لقي أبو الأبيض العدو فقاتل حتى قتل.
