ومنهم شبيب بن مزيد (¬١) بن جمرة بن عوف بن أبي حارثة الشاعر، وكان ينسب إلى أمه فيقال شبيب بن البرصاء، وكانت أدماء فسمّيت برصاء بلا برص. قال ابن الكلبي: هذا مقلوب من كلامهم، كما يقولون للمهلكة: مفازة. وأشباه ذلك، واسمها أمامة بنت الحارث بن عوف. وذكر الكلبي أن رسول الله ﷺ خطبها إلى أبيها فقال: إن بها برصا، وهو كاذب ليدفعه عنها، فلما رجع إلى قبّته وجدها برصاء. ولشبيب عقب بالبادية.
