وعلقمة بن سبّاح بن جبيل بن حدّان بن قريع، كان من فرسان بني سعد، وهو قاتل عمرو بن جعيد المرادي يوم الكلاب الثاني، ومدحه أوس بن حجر فقال في قصيدة أولها: ودّع لميس وداع الصارم اللاحي … قد فتّكت في فساد بعد إصلاح ابتزّها الله بلحائي وقد علمت … إني لنفسي إفسادي واصلاحي إن أشرب الخمر أو أرزأ لها ثمنا … فلا محالة يوما إنني صاح أسقي ديار بني عوف وساكنها … ودار علقمة الخير ابن سبّاح
