وكان من بنيه لصلبه أبو ذر، ولقب أبا زر، وكان زانيا وله يقول الشاعر: زنا ابن بوّ أبو زر صراحية … والله يمقت وجه الأشمط الزاني وقال أبو زر عند الموت: اسقوني خمرا فقالوا: أتشرب خمرا عند الموت؟ فأنشأ يقول: ألام على شراب الشيخ كسرى … وقد نحلت من العطش الجلود وإنما نقلت كنيته إلى أبي زر إكراما لأبي ذر الغفاري رضي الله تعالى عنه.
